Online Safety Tips

Protect your personal and financial information.

Under any circumstance you should never give details about your passport number, national ID number, home or work address, financial information and any specific information about your daily routine (for example, if there is a a park that you frequent on weekends). If someone is pressuring you for details, report their profile immediately.

Keep things on the platform.

Even though it may be tempting to give out your personal number and text each other, it’s important to keep your conversations limited to the Hunbun platform, at least before the first date.

Report any inappropriate and suspicious behavior.

If someone makes you uncomfortable, we want to nip it in the bud. Block and report any profile that violates our terms of use. Here are a few examples of violations:

  • Offensive, threatening and inappropriate messages

  • Inappropriate behavior whilst meeting in person

  • Requests for money to be wire-transferred

Do not hesitate to report any concerns, send us an email at support@hunbun.co.

Tips for Meeting in Real Life

Keep things slow and steady.

We have purposefully created a series of questions to slow down the speed of online dating. It’s important to think critically before agreeing to give your personal number or to meeting in real life.

Tell your friends and family about your date.

Make sure you inform your close friends or family members about your plans, such as what time and where you plan on meeting your date. Share your live location for 24 hours with them, if you feel comfortable to do so. Make sure your phone is fully charged and on you at all times.

Choose a public date location.

It’s always safe to meet at a public location surrounded by other people for the first few dates. Avoid inviting them to your flat or going to your date’s flat. If you feel pressured at any time to go to a more private location, simply end the date.

Keep your drinks and personal items within your line of sight.

You need to be vigilant when accepting drinks. Make sure the bartender has poured a fresh drink for you, and if you need to excuse yourself to use the loo, order a fresh glass when you return to the table. It’s easy for predators to slip substances in your drink, so it is vital to stay alert. Keep your wallet, purse, phone and any form of identification with you at all times.

Make sure you have a way back home.

It’s best to be in control of how you will get to and from the date. Whether it’s hopping on the tube, using a ride-share app, hailing a cab or asking your friends to pick you up, make sure you do not need to rely on your date to drop you off.

Trust your instincts.

If you’re getting a bad vibe and something feels off, trust your gut feeling and end the date early.
