Love vs. lust: how to tell the difference
It’s difficult to distinguish between love and lust since both come with intense feelings especially at the beginning of a relationship, making it hard to think straight. If you’re looking for something more serious then you probably want to be able to recognize the signs of lust, since those relationships tend to be short-lived.
Love is an emotion that makes you feel vulnerable and intimate, not just through sex, but by being able to have open conversations with your partner about your life goals, fears, passions and dreams. Whereas lust is characterized as an intense physical desire.
Relationships that are rooted in lust do not engage in deep conversations about the future. If you’re afraid the relationship will get too deep or you aren’t interested in meeting the important people in their life and vice versa, then it is highly probable that you’re in lust.
When you are in love with someone you have an intense desire for the person both physically and emotionally, you aren’t afraid of being vulnerable with them, you want to share important milestones with them and ultimately you acknowledge that your partner isn’t perfect, but you love them anyway.
